Hieracium on the south-slopes of the mountain ridge Kolmården - report from a two-day excursion including a complete list of species of H. sect. Hieracium and H. sect. Vulgata reported from the parishes Krokek and Kvillinge

- The southern slopes of the mountain ridge Kolmarden along the northern border of the province Ostergotland ill south-eastern Sweden have a very rich flora and varied geomorphology. Several rare and locally endemic microspecies of Hieracium have been described or reported from the area but no hieraciologist has visited the region since c. 1930. In 2004, the present author walked c. 50 km in this area and collected more than 200 Hieracium specimen from c. 30 different sites. In total, 35 species of H. sect Hieracium and H sect. Vulgata were collected, inclunding the local endemics H. albiduliforme and H. flagriferum. H. remanens was found. The former park at Fridhem was also visited and five species of Hieracium originally introduced with grass-seed from Central Europe during the late 19:th century were refound. One of these introduced species, viz. H grandidens, was found at many sites and has obviously managed to establish cad become locally naturalized in die area. Including species collected during die period 1880 - 1930, 64 species have now been found ill the parishes Krokek and Kvillinge demonstrating that this region is one of die most species rich regions of southern Sweden.
