Method of calculations for electron transport in multiterminal quantum systems based on real-space lattice models
(2002) In Physical Review B (Condensed Matter and Materials Physics) 66(16).- Abstract
- A formalism for the calculations of electron transport in multiterminal quantum systems is presented. The systems are described by tight-binding Hamiltonians. It is shown that by exploiting real-space Green's functions, a problem of the electron transport in a multiterminal system can be reformulated into a problem of the electron transport in an effective two-terminal system and can then be treated using a standard two-terminal method. Applications of the formalism to a three-terminal system, containing a quantum-confined, T-shaped structure, and a four-terminal system, containing a quantum-confined, cross-bar structure, are also presented. It is found that the transmission and reflection probabilities of the two multiterminal quantum... (More)

It is found that the transmission and reflection probabilities of the two multiterminal quantum systems show complex spectra. The results are explained in terms of the localization properties of the confined states in the systems. (Less)
