Abstract
This study investigated the perceptions of the young citizens of Macau about volunteerism, and how this perception affected volunteer reruitment and retention, and the market strategies of the non-profits. The study covered implicitly the question of competition and substitution of volutneerism as perceived by the young people in Macau; how the non-profits competed with each other in recruiting volunteers.
