- A literary manifesto is not a program. Even so, many are irritated by the doctrinal constraints of any manifesto or by its imprecision. There is confusion between the theoretical reinforcement of the manifesto, which has rather a conative function (to use a term in linguistics), of conviction. Predictive and limitative is the program. Politically speaking, the former proves "creative political indifference" (Morris Janowitz), while the second, as the language itself, is an "environment of social domination and power" (Jurgen Habermas). For, of course, there is a policy of literature.
But even if it persists in terminological confusion, the substantive issue is the same: the manifesto, accompanied or not by the program, practices the...
