City identities and cultural memories : A digital ethnography of the poetics and politics of participatory cultures in Southeast Asian cities

- This paper is based on the preliminary stage of a PhD research that aims to explore meaning of cultural memories and its relation to the notion of city identities from participatory cultures that occur in Southeast Asian cities. The paper discusses the development of its conceptual framework, from cultural memory studies, participatory cultures in urban context, to digital ethnography as the research tool and approach. Then, followed by the introductory of its empirical materials I am working with and their elaboration in regard to the research topic.
