Abstract
Today, it is often said that we stand at the opening of a postindustrial “knowledge society,” where private enterprise has become increasingly dependent on research and innovation and where education has become a prerequisite for success on the labor market. This idea serves as a source of inspiration when governments, corporations and institutions elaborate policies and strategies for future development. The production of knowledge is, then, seen as the supreme engine of growth, forcing scholars to appear useful and profitable to avoid marginalization.
