Sweden has been a member of the European Union since 1995 but has not yet given up its independent currency. In this study, we estimate the trade flows that would have occurred between Sweden and its major trading partners if Sweden had joined the euro in 1999. Furthermore, we use the synthetic control method to estimate the causal effect on trade of Sweden&#39;s choice not to enter the euro. We create a counterfactual scenario where Sweden joins the euro and compare these synthetic outcomes with actual Swedish outcomes. Our results suggest that if Sweden had joined the euro, aggregate export flows between Sweden and euro countries would have been 80% higher in 2019, and aggregate import flows would have been 16% higher in 2019 if Sweden had adopted the euro. We also estimate the (hypothetical) euro&#39;s effect on trade flows between Sweden and Sweden&#39;s biggest non-euro trading partners. According to our findings, adopting the European currency would have resulted in 30% higher export flows and 25% higher import flows in 2019 between Sweden and its seven biggest non-euro trading partners.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">9109567</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2022</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">eng</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>Euro</topic> <topic>Trade</topic> <topic>European Union</topic> <topic>Sweden</topic> <topic>Synthetic control method</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Business and Economics</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>9083046</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2022-06-02T16:57:21+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2022-10-10T09:23:26+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2022-10-10T09:23:26+02:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>1</recordPosition></record>

The hypothesis stated is that higher wages in Denmark and the opening of the Öresund Bridge in July 2000 have led to a process of wage convergence between the two regions. The study examines the wages of nurses in order to detect a Swedish wage adjustment towards Denmark. This due to the group’s likelihood to commute to Denmark, the higher wages and flourishing labour market in comparison to the south of Sweden. The study consists of four additional professions in order to compare the nurses’ wage trend.<br /> The methodology of the study is an econometric trend analysis of the wage trend in the south of Sweden compared to other regions in Sweden, as well as the trend for nurses in the south of Sweden compared to other regions. Other variables in the regression analysis are; gender, exchange rate and number of employed within the analyzed professions. <br /> The result of the analysis is that there is a significant higher wage trend in the south of Sweden. However, there are no signs of any significant wage trend for nurses in the south of Sweden or any of the other four professions. The conclusion is that there is a general higher wage trend in the south of Sweden. <br /> Moreover, if the higher growth trend in wages in the south of Sweden is persistent over time and if this is a sign of wage convergence, the labour market in the south of Sweden has got an uncertain future. That is if high-skilled labour chooses to work in Denmark and/or if companies choose to locate elsewhere in Sweden due to overpriced labour.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">298711</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2012</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">swe</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>wage convergence</topic> <topic>löneutjämning</topic> <topic>migration</topic> <topic>arbetsmarknad</topic> <topic>Öresund</topic> <topic>Öresundsbron</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Business and Economics</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>2639029</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2012-06-04T13:12:41+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2012-06-15T12:49:56+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2012-06-15T12:49:56+02:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>2</recordPosition></record>

Also, I investigate what the other parties’ role are is in this fixation, and how they can limit the Sweden Democrats’ influence over the discourse. My material consists of parliamentary debates from 2010 to 2012. My main conclusions are that the Sweden Democrats destabilise the discourse through criticising former immigration policies. After this, they establish their own views by connecting employment, alienation, ethnicity and criminality to immigration. The other parties facilitate the fixation by agreeing with the Sweden Democrats’ criticism on former policies, and also by speaking of unemployment and alienation in the same way as the Sweden Democrats. The other parties hamper the fixation by creating a strong barrier between themselves and the Sweden Democrats, making the party stand out as an antagonism in the discourse. More effective ways for the other parties to deal with the Sweden Democrats would be to avoid articulating the same elements as them, and to utilise more hegemonic interventions. Instead of repeating and criticising the Sweden Democrats’ statements, the other parties should present their own beliefs on immigration and focus on the elements they wish to include in the discourse.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">429623</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2012</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">eng</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>the Sweden Democrats (Sverigedemokraterna)</topic> <topic>parliamentary debate (riksdagsdebatt)</topic> <topic>immigration</topic> <topic>Laclau and Mouffe</topic> <topic>discourse</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Law and Political Science</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>2543001</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2012-05-22T01:42:08+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2012-06-27T10:45:24+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2012-06-27T10:45:24+02:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>3</recordPosition></record>

The purpose of this master thesis is therefore to perform an inventory of northern Sweden for suitable places for wind power. The master thesis is performed at E.ON Vinds office at Vasagatan in Stockholm. Parts of the result will not be official since this is commercial information for E.ON Vind. This thesis analyse this transformation with focus on a military operation in Chad were Sweden attended. Sweden has been considered as a neutral actor in the context of military conflicts. This neutrality can even be traced back to the nineteenth century. When Sweden entered the European Union the country started to partake in more military operations. The case is interesting because the operation was one of the most complex military operations that the EU performed as one united actor.<br /> Since Sweden has a history of practising neutral military politics, this is an interesting case whereas Sweden was participating from the beginning. The military operation shows that Sweden is not a neutral actor in the context of military conflicts. Sweden is now participating and choosing a side due to the will of solving military conflicts, protecting refugees, protect human rights and democratic values.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">245907</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2011</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">swe</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>Säkerhetspolitik</topic> <topic>neutralitetspolitik</topic> <topic>EUFOR</topic> <topic>Tchad</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Law and Political Science</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>1968467</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2011-05-23T17:25:05+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2011-08-31T16:12:19+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2011-08-31T16:12:19+02:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>5</recordPosition></record>

This is done by using the synthetic control method where a synthetical Sweden is created and compared with actual Sweden. Synthetic Sweden is created by 11 donor pool countries, which are the 11 countries that joined the EMU in 1999. Using GDP per capita and Export as a percentage of GDP as dependent variables and other economic figures as explanatory variables between 1980-2020 are we able to understand how the Swedish economy would have developed if Sweden would have joined EMU in 1999. The results, in line with previous research, show that Sweden has benefited in terms of GDP per capita by staying outside of the EMU. But the results also display that Sweden would have a larger export if they were a part of the EMU. Because the Euro only has been used since 1999, only short- and medium-term results displayed, and not any long-term effects.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">575516</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2022</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">eng</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>EMU</topic> <topic>Euro Area</topic> <topic>Sweden</topic> <topic>Synthetic Control Method</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Business and Economics</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>9085979</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2022-06-09T10:54:00+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2022-10-10T09:27:06+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2022-10-10T09:27:06+02:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>6</recordPosition></record>

The number <br /> of unaccompanied children in Sweden has increased and the Swedish Migration Board estimates <br /> that during 2010, approximately 2400 children will arrive. <br /> Under the second article of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) the state is required <br /> to ensure all children, within its jurisdiction, the rights provided in the Convention. <br /> Sweden is also obligated to comply with the CRC since the principle of pacta sunt servanda is central in international law. <br /> The purpose of this thesis is to examine which measures Sweden can take in its next National <br /> Action Plan for Human Rights so guarantee unaccompanied children&#39;s rights according to the CRC. The importance of education in children&#39;s rights should be emphasized and Sweden should also discuss the adoption <br /> of a national plan of action on children.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">427961</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2010</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">swe</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>barns rättigheter </topic> <topic>nationell handlingsplan</topic> <topic>barnkonventionen</topic> <topic>Children's rights</topic> <topic>Sverige</topic> <topic>Unaccompanied children</topic> <topic>Sweden</topic> <topic>Convention on the Rights of the Child</topic> <topic>ensamkommande barn</topic> <topic>national plan of action</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Social Sciences</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>1527815</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2010-01-12T12:44:59+01:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2014-09-04T08:27:47+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2010-03-04T14:29:40+01:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>8</recordPosition></record>

In order to answer this broad question, will this paper explore the potential effects of demand- and supply-oriented explanations on the Sweden Democrats’ electoral success by comparing two Swedish counties in the 2010 municipal elections. The counties selected for the comparative analysis are Scania and Västra Götaland. The results show that the county in which the Sweden Democrats have earned the highest share of votes is also the county in which the party has had the highest organisational presence. The results further show that the county with the highest share of votes also is the county with the highest share of foreign borns. The results finally indicate that the traditional demand and supply oriented explanations have played a major role in explaining why the Sweden Democrats have been so successful in Scania compared to Västra Götaland.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">379144</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">LU/LTH access</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2021</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">eng</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>Sweden</topic> <topic>Scania</topic> <topic>far right</topic> <topic>populism</topic> <topic>Sweden Democrats</topic> <topic>demand-side</topic> <topic>internal supply-side.</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Law and Political Science</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>9033735</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2021-01-05T08:44:06+01:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2021-05-25T12:43:52+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2021-05-25T12:43:52+02:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>9</recordPosition></record>

<subject> <topic>EMU</topic> <topic>Euro Area</topic> <topic>Synthetic Control Method</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Business and Economics</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>9085994</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2022-06-09T11:10:04+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2022-10-10T09:25:47+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2022-10-10T09:25:47+02:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>10</recordPosition></record>

For this purpose I will study and analyse governmental propositions and other military documents between the time periods of 1990 - 2015 to decipher how Sweden views Russia as a security threat. To then understand and analyse my findings I will use the theories about securitization, desecuritization and resecuritization to understand how Sweden has changed its views on Russia. This essay will also have the two ambitions to define and understand the term resecuritization, and that is because the term resecuritization lacks a proper definition and is used more of a buzzword in the academia rather than way of understanding changes in the process of securitization. The second ambitions are to map out how Sweden changes its viewings on Russia as a security threat over the period 1990 – 2015. My conclusion is that Sweden over the period 1990 – 2015 has drastically changed and Sweden is today more ready than ever for an attack from Russia. Another finding in this essay is the use and understanding of the term resecuritization in the context of securitization theories.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">563296</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2016</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">swe</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>Desecuritization</topic> <topic>Securitization</topic> <topic>Russia</topic> <topic>Sweden</topic> <topic>Resecuritization</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Law and Political Science</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>8875059</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2016-05-27T09:39:42+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2016-06-17T12:18:07+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2016-06-17T12:18:07+02:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>11</recordPosition></record>

It remains prevalent in major progressive democracies such as Sweden and the United States. Limited studies have examined how the two nations differ in a comparative cross-sectional design. This paper aims to understand experiences and opinions regarding ethnicity and discrimination to explore differences and similarities on these aspects in the United States and Sweden in university students. The current study also examines the importance of racial identity and the ideas of system justification and racial consciousness. Analysis of responses (n = 2307) in a web-based questionnaire found that non-whites consider their racial/ethnic backgrounds to be more important to their identity compared to whites in both nations, Sweden defends system justification more than the United States, the ‘American’ identity is more open compared to ‘Swedish’ regardless of racial/ethnic group, and there is a higher self-reported racial discrimination rate in Sweden than the United States. University student responses were collected from 35 U.S. states and two universities in Sweden. With their different racial histories, approaches to immigration, and social policies, comparing the United States and Sweden provide interesting insights and a broader understanding of racism.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">760286</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2023</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">eng</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>Discrimination</topic> <topic>Racism</topic> <topic>Sweden</topic> <topic>US</topic> <topic>comparison</topic> <topic>cross-sectional study</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Social Sciences</topic> </subject> <note type="additionalInfo">Special thanks to the students of University of Wisconsin, Madison, Arne Lunde at University of California, Los Angeles, and all else who contributed to the data collection.</note> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>9124786</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2023-06-13T23:13:48+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2023-06-15T10:08:03+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2023-06-15T10:08:03+02:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>12</recordPosition></record>

As Myanmar refugees begin to resettle in Swedish society, they might experience challenges that may affect their mental health and well-being. Although mental health problems of immigrants in Sweden have increased over the past years, few studies have addressed the mental well-being of the Myanmar immigrant’s community. This knowledge gap needs to be explored from a public health perspective to promote the mental health of Myanmar migrants and refugees living in Sweden. This study aims to explore the perception of the mental well-being of Myanmar migrants with refugee status during their resettlement process in Sweden.<br /> Method: Data were collected by conducting in-depth interviews with eight Myanmar migrants who are currently living in Sweden with refugee status. Each subject was interviewed via Zoom video conferencing meeting (one-on-one interview) and the data were analyzed by applying qualitative content analysis.<br /> Results: Interview findings resulted in one overarching theme: Experiencing the emergence of opportunities and the need for mental well-being with two sub-themes: 1) Perceiving mental well-being as thriving in a secure place with prospects for the future despite encountering challenges and, 2) Feeling confident that both formal and informal mental health support will be accessible during the resettlement process. These themes were developed from five categories. All these categories were based on fourteen subcategories.<br /> Conclusion: Myanmar migrants with refugee status perceive Sweden as a place where they can address and be aware of opportunities and needs for their mental well-being compared to the previous countries where they lived before arriving in Sweden. Having hope for their future in Sweden is a reason to overcome the challenges during their resettlement process. They become more focused on the importance of mental health support during their transition period in Sweden; however, the study suggests that Myanmar migrants with refugee status have limited knowledge about mental health information.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">1192256</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2022</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">eng</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>Keywords: Refugee resettlement</topic> <topic>Migrants</topic> <topic>Myanmar migrants</topic> <topic>Burmese</topic> <topic>Mental health</topic> <topic>Mental well-being</topic> <topic>Sweden</topic> <topic>Qualitative Content Analysis.</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Medicine and Health Sciences</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>9093510</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2022-06-27T11:08:51+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2022-06-29T15:14:56+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2022-06-29T15:14:56+02:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>13</recordPosition></record>

Furthermore, the effects of QE policies on additional macroeconomic variables have also been investigated. To study the effects, quarterly data was used in a local projections impulse response function (IRF). The results implies that QE increased consumer inflation in the euro area, but not in Sweden. No clear result could be inferred for the United States. In the case of Sweden, QE caused deprecation of the exchange rate. The research adopts a qualitative approach through conducting semi-structured interviews in informal Arabic with Syrian refugees. The interviews were then thematically analyzed from the theoretical perspective of information practice theory. The study shows that the interviewees’ information-related practices and needs during their journeys and in Sweden are heavily affected by the idea of survival. The research examines how the refugees’ wish to survive guided their behaviors regarding information. This thesis shows also that the interviewees’ families have affected these persons’ roles regarding information and its mediation. (Mis)trust permeated through all of the interviewees’ information-related activities and affected them in one way or another. Lastly, the thesis examines the change in usage of public libraries between Syria and Sweden and the interviewees perceptions of these libraries.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">473328</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2019</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">eng</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>Refugees</topic> <topic>Syrians</topic> <topic>Information Practices</topic> <topic>Information Needs</topic> <topic>Information Theory</topic> <topic>Sweden</topic> <topic>Skåne</topic> <topic>Library</topic> <topic>Theme Analysis</topic> <topic>Survival</topic> <topic>Family</topic> <topic>Trust</topic> <topic>Mistrust</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Cultural Sciences</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>8979954</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2019-06-05T17:49:42+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2019-09-19T15:54:30+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2019-08-12T16:08:48+02:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>16</recordPosition></record>

According to the 25th annual, report from the Commission, there were over 3400 complaints and infringement files under 2007. The environmental sector was the area with the highest number of open cases that concerned non-compliance in 2006 Sweden is however one of the best Member States when it comes to the implementation of Directives. Nonetheless, even Sweden has either failed to transpose Directives in time, to implement them correctly or failed to apply them correctly within the environmental area. This thesis has therefore investigated why Sweden, as one of the biggest proponents of environmental issues, has failed to implement Environmental Directives. This thesis has investigated three Directives: the Bathing Directive, the Directive on the disposal of Waste Oils and the Wild Birds Directive, in order to reach some conclusions as to why Sweden failed to implement these Directives correctly. Before it was possible to argue that they had failed it was primarily important to establish that the Commission had sent a letter of formal intent, a reasoned opinion and finally referred Sweden to the ECJ. In all cases, Sweden was subject to a referral to the ECJ and failed in that sense with its implementation. This thesis used explanatory factors from the Community level as from the Member State level. The Community level explanation investigated whether the enforcement procedures, the letter of formal intent and the reasoned opinion under Art 226 and 228 as well as the ruling from the ECJ, had any impact on the non-compliance of the Directives. Sweden received a letter of formal intent under article 228 as they were not complying with the judgment for its non - compliance with the Bathing Water Directive. Sweden followed the letter of formal intent immediately and the enforcement procedure had in that sense an impact since Sweden was not willing to receive penalty payments. The following Directives did not go as far, which indicates that Sweden was more inclined to comply with Directives and not receive sanctions. Explanations from the Member State level were the ability to understand the Directive, willingness to implement it and capability to implement it. Sweden was willing but had difficulties in understanding them since they were vague. This led to different interpretations at different administration levels, which caused the institutions to be inefficient. When the Directives at the same time did not fit the national legislation and Sweden had not prepared itself before they had to implement the Directives it was perfectly clear that they would fail with the implementation.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">1557051</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2009</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">eng</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>EG-rätt</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Law and Political Science</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>1562588</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2010-03-08T14:59:02+01:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2010-03-08T15:55:30+01:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2010-03-08T15:55:30+01:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>17</recordPosition></record>

Photovoltaic (solar energy) is on of the fastest growing markets within this renewable energy sector.<br /> This thesis investigates Sweden’s competitiveness in the photovoltaic industry. Sweden’s photovoltaic industry will be compared to the German PV industry, because Germany is one of the leading countries in this sector.<br /> In this case study, Germany should be seen as a benchmark for Sweden. In order to analyse the competitiveness of Sweden and Germany in the photovoltaic industry, I will use the diamond model from Porter. In times of increased influence of radical right-wing parties across Europe, Sweden as the first country decided to grant permanent residence permits to refugees escaping the Syrian war. By applying the Multiple Streams Framework and treating Sweden as a deviant case, this thesis investigates the circumstances behind the policy through a multi-method case study. The MS framework uses three streams to systematically explore the conditions: problem, politics and policies.<br /> The results indicate that several interrelated factors influenced the policy. In international surveys Sweden stood out as particularly positive towards immigration and the right to apply for asylum. The political parties were showed to have significant influence on the political development as parties from the political right and the political left largely shared perceptions of immigration. This consensus was showed to work against the establishment of anti- immigrant parties. Through comparisons with previous experiences it was showed that several similarities existed and that lessons had been drawn from these experiences. Thus, Sweden had a high capacity for processing applications.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">1624172</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">LU/LTH access</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2014</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">eng</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>Refugees</topic> <topic>Syria</topic> <topic>Sweden</topic> <topic>Multiple Streams</topic> <topic>Policy Formation</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Social Sciences</topic> </subject> <note type="additionalInfo">** Automatic update: Record was moved from Department of Political Science (012015000), Master of Science in Global Studies (LURS00004), International Office (LURS00001) to Master of Science in Global Studies (LURS00004) at 2026-02-09 11:32:56 </note> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>4459609</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2014-06-05T11:47:10+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2026-02-09T11:32:56+01:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2014-07-01T08:33:47+02:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>20</recordPosition></record>
