abstract = {{This article examines the Dominican reception of Louis Chardon’s La Croix de Jésus in the interwar period, drawing on unpublished archival sources, including a previously unedited response by François Florand to his critics. It traces how Bremond’s rediscovery of Chardon drew Garrigou-Lagrange into a defensive reading of Thomist mysticism, how Florand’s 1937 edition presented Chardon as a Thomism open to history and literary form, and how the critique by Labourdette and Nicolas crystallized a deeper disagreement about theological method itself. Chardon’s reception thus emerges as a revealing prism for the tensions between competing styles of French Thomism in their engagement with mysticism, nature, and grace.}},
