abstract = {{This thesis evaluates the effects of road lighting on cycling on the super cycleway between Lund and Dalby, with a focus on a rural environment. The aim is to assess how lighting influences cyclists’ mobility, perceived traffic safety, and perceived safety. The study applies a mixed-method approach, combining the clock-change method to analyze cycling volumes, video-based speed measurements, and semi-structured interviews with cyclists. The results indicate no statistically significant change in cyclists’ choice of travel time following the installation of lighting. However, cyclists ride slightly slower but more consistently in darkness, and the interviews reveal clear improvements in perceived safety, visibility, and comfort. Overall, the findings indicate that road lighting primarily enhances cycling safety and quality rather than influencing when cyclists choose to travel.}},
