  abstract     = {{The Swedish elderly care system has undergone a significant transformation towards marketization and New Public Management (NPM). This study aims to analyze how municipal structural factors, specifically economic resources, demographic volume, and organizational form, co-vary with user satisfaction in Home Care (hemtjänst) and Residential Care. The study employs a quantitative cross-sectional design, conducting a total population survey of Sweden’s municipalities (N = 286) using secondary data from 2024. The analysis combines Pearson's correlation coefficient with quartile comparisons to identify linear trends and threshold effects. 

The results indicate that economic resources have a negligible impact on user satisfaction. Instead organizational scale and operational form prove to be decisive factors. A clear dichotomy emerged between the two service forms: Home Care satisfaction is negatively correlated with municipality size and the degree of privatization. Conversely Residential Care shows a positive correlation with the degree of privatization. The strong negative correlation between privatization and satisfaction within Home Care challenges the efficacy of market mechanisms in services dependent on relational continuity.}},
