abstract = {{Airport pavements are subjected to severe loads from aircrafts, creating a need for reliable methods to evaluate pavement bearing capacity. Traditionally, the ACN-PCN-system has been used internationally, but the system has limitations since it does not consider traffic volume or cumulative pavement deterioration. To address these shortcomings ICAO introduced the ACR-PCR-system. The aim of this thesis was to analyze the differences between the ACN-PCN- and ACR-PCR-systems and evaluate which PCR calculation program are most suitable for Swedish airport conditions. The study was based on literature reviews, interviews with industry professionals, and analysis of data from three airports. PCN values were calculated manually, while PCR values were determined using the programs FAARFIELD and ERAPave. The results showed that the PCR system provides a more realistic assessment of pavement performance, for instance by considering cumulative traffic loading. Higher traffic volumes resulted in lower PCR values, indicating increased pavement deterioration. Significant differences were also identified between the calculation programs. FAARFIELD generally produced unrealistically high PCR values for Swedish conditions, while ERAPave generated more reasonable and consistent results, partly due to its adaptation to Nordic climate and pavement conditions. The study concludes that ERAPave is better suited for Swedish airports.}},
