  abstract     = {{This study investigated how the length of social media videos and content type influenced working memory and inhibition. A total of 40 participants aged 20-44 years were assigned to four different groups. They watched either a TikTok playlist with several short-form videos or a longer YouTube video containing informative or non-informative content. Before and after the viewing session, the participants completed three tasks: the Digit Span Task, the Flanker Task and the Corsi Block Task. They were also asked a few questions about age, gender, time spent on these types of videos and the type of content they usually consume. The hypotheses predicted that the groups with short-form videos and the groups with non-informative videos would perform worse than their counterparts. These were rejected when no significant differences in task performance were found between the groups when only compared to task results. However, when analyzing the Corsi Block Task with the questionnaire variables as covariates, a significant association was found between the Corsi post test and information type, F(1, 31) = 4.19, p = .049, ƞ²p =.12. Our findings suggest that cognitive functions are possibly moderated by multiple interacting variables and further research is needed.}},
