abstract = {{This project explores how a backpack chassis, or inter nal frame-stay, can provide high-utility campsite infrastructure without increasing the total weight carried by the user. While contemporary outdoor gear often forces a compromise between portability and ergonomic comfort, this project leverages the inherent structural functionality of a hiking backpacks internal skeleton to create an integrated seating system. By transforming the normally dormant frame into an active legless-chair, the design addresses the physical demands of long-haul hiking who normally forgo the luxury of a dedicated chair due to weight constraints.

The project decouples the frame and insulation into multi-tiered equipment: a standalone sit-pad
for short breaks and a complete leg-less chair for longer stationary rest.}},
