  abstract     = {{This thesis examines the relationship between protection awareness exposure and reported gender-based violence (GBV) in Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh between 2023 and 2025. Using a balanced camp-level panel dataset covering 10 camps over 36 months, the study applies fixed-effects regression models to estimate within-camp associations.
The results show a consistent and statistically significant positive association between awareness exposure and reported GBV, while lagged effects are not statistically significant, indicating that the relationship is primarily contemporaneous.
This pattern is interpreted through the distinction between reported violence and underlying incidence. Rather than reflecting increased violence, the findings are more consistent with a reporting effect, whereby awareness reduces stigma and improves access to reporting systems.
The study contributes by demonstrating how awareness shapes the visibility of GBV in administrative data and highlights the importance of distinguishing between reporting and incidence when evaluating interventions in humanitarian settings.}},
