  abstract     = {{Most gendered research on cycling has been conducted in the Global North, leaving out the experiences of other countries. Chile, in the context of mobility, has been recognised in the region for its significant steps towards sustainability; however, it still lacks when it comes to cycling, and, according to previous studies, the gender gap in Santiago remains under 30 per cent for women. This thesis aimed to bring visibility to gendered experiences and challenges in cycling in Santiago, Chile. The results of this study highlight not only the individual backgrounds of cyclists, disaggregated by gender, but also their lived experiences and perspectives. Through an online survey and interviews, it is suggested that women and men experience and perceive the urban environment differently when cycling in Santiago, Chile. Their experiences are affected by perceptions of security, access and infrastructure.}},
