For this reason, the thesis explores the formation, evolution and regional effects of three bioenergy projects ? a biodiesel cooperative, a biomass district heating plant and a biogas plant ? that are co-located within the small rural community of Mureck, in Austria. It finds that the three projects form an industrial ecosystem that is founded on a unique and innovative architecture, and that is characterised by a more efficient use of materials and energy. By adopting a system dynamics perspective, the thesis explains the gradual evolution of this industrial ecosystem, influenced by the closed-loop philosophy and the broad bio-ecological vision of one developer, and emerging as all actors have sought to minimise transaction costs. It further shows that much of the innovative character of this system was largely due to the formation of a regional cooperation triangle among research institutions, technology suppliers and implementers. Next, the thesis explores the favourable policy context that has fostered the evolution of this system. A socio-economic section analyses the regional benefits generated by this industrial ecosystem and shows that these range from increased heating convenience and prestige among local residents, to increased self-sufficiency and to value added to the region. Finally, a socio-cultural analysis explores why this system, as well as other bioenergy projects in the region, were essentially driven by endogenous forces. It finds that bioenergy projects have represented over time a considerable income-alternative for farmers, and that such projects may fit well within rural communities. By highlighting the features of the (regional) rural culture, the section provides an additional means of interpreting the formation of the industrial ecosystem in Mureck, and stresses that bioenergy projects play an important role for the development of rural regions. Based on the innovative Mureck case, the study indicates general preconditions for the successful diffusion of bioenergy systems.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">2573777</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2005</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">eng</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>bioenergy systems</topic> <topic>rural energy systems</topic> <topic>energy policy</topic> <topic>Environmental studies</topic> <topic>Miljöstudier</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Earth and Environmental Sciences</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>1325677</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2006-05-30T00:00:00+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2006-05-30T00:00:00+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2005-01-01T00:00:00+01:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>1</recordPosition></record>

As a general pathway to sustainable banking, environmental risk management (ERM) is regarded as a preventive strategy to direct bank managers to develop business towards sustainability initially. On this basis green financing can be further implemented as an offensive strategy at the higher level or phase for approaching sustainable banking.<br /> <br /> China&#39;s commercial banks, such as the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), are facing the challenges of environmental issues as well as potential market opportunities of environmental financing. Respecting the financing system for corporate customers in ICBC, some environmental concerns have been taken into consideration for its daily credit risk management, however a lack of concrete ERM policies with practical approaches and tools exposes ICBC&#39;s credit assets to potential environmental risks. At the same time there are only limited funds distributed to environmentally sound and profitable industries. Considering the potential and huge market for environmental financing in near future, ICBC&#39;s managers should pay greater attention to green financing opportunities. Other preconditions are needed such as the preventive ERM, new business ethics with corporate social responsibility (CSR), and offensively seeking potential markets by external support and cooperation.<br /> <br /> During the research process of the thesis, the author explores how preventive ERM can be incorporated into the actual credit risk management in ICBC currently and presents initial suggestions for implementation of green financing in the near future. Through this research the author aims to construct an appropriate pathway to sustainable banking for ICBC and other Chinese commercial banks as well as raise awareness of sustainable development among ICBC&#39;s managers such that strategies for sustainable banking will be institutionalised in the near future.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">821519</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2005</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">eng</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>Sustainable banking</topic> <topic>environmental risk management</topic> <topic>green financing</topic> <topic>Environmental studies</topic> <topic>Miljöstudier</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Earth and Environmental Sciences</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>1325685</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2006-05-30T00:00:00+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2006-05-30T00:00:00+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2005-01-01T00:00:00+01:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>3</recordPosition></record>

Therefore, overlaps between such policy instruments become more likely. On the one hand, positive overlaps may allow realising synergies like an increased effectiveness or reduced costs stemming from a combination of policy instruments. However, the probability of negative overlaps and, thus, unintended outcomes like a lower effectiveness or additional costs related to a combination of policy instruments may grow on the other hand.<br /> <br /> This thesis considers selected policy instruments on domestic cold appliance energy efficiency that have been implemented in Germany. In a first step, the functioning of individual policy instruments is investigated. Based on that, interactions within combinations of the selected policy instruments are explored. This is done by reviewing relevant literature and policy evaluation studies, conducting expert interviews as well as applying a framework for forming views on interactions as suggested by Boonekamp (2005).<br /> <br /> The findings show that the EU energy label sets the framework for domestic cold appliance energy efficiency in Germany. Moreover, rebate programmes, information campaigns and minimum energy efficiency standards respective voluntary commitments are also found to be effective. Less successful policy instruments in improving domestic cold appliance energy effi-ciency are found to be cooperative procurement as a stand-alone instrument and a green tax. Furthermore, it is argued that most combinations of the investigated policy instruments have a reinforcing relationship.<br /> <br /> Based on the findings it is concluded that interactions between policy instruments on house-hold energy efficiency are still relatively unexplored. Further research in this area would facili-tate considering the issue of interactions between policy instruments in evaluation studies.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">1660156</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2005</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">eng</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>Policy evaluation</topic> <topic>policy interaction</topic> <topic>policy instruments</topic> <topic>energy efficiency</topic> <topic>households</topic> <topic>Environmental studies</topic> <topic>Miljöstudier</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Earth and Environmental Sciences</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>1325690</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2006-05-30T00:00:00+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2006-05-30T00:00:00+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2005-01-01T00:00:00+01:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>4</recordPosition></record>

The need for such a study is justified as it is desirable to change the unsustainable pattern of consumption and production associated with these materials. Plastic bag waste appears in very high proportion in the municipal sold waste stream in Nairobi and is causing environmental problems such as choking of animals and soils; blockage of waterways and rivers; blight of landscapes and trees; and resource depletion. The research questions addressed are: (1) What is the current status of plastic bag waste pollution in Nairobi? (2) What are the associated undesirable environmental impacts? (3) What are the underlying causes? and (4) What are the applicable solutions for short-to-medium and long term. To answer these questions, different approaches were utilised. The theoretical background of the problem and that of possible remedies was investigated from literature sources. Experiences of other countries on the issue were studied. A detailed contextual assessment was conducted in Nairobi to determine the status of the problem, its root causes, major stakeholders and what has already been done in response to the issue. The results indicate that the problem is a consequence of externalities in production and consumption; ineffective by-laws on littering and illegal dumping; failure of garbage collection and disposal systems; and low public awareness and poor life-cycle considerations. The compiled information and suggestions are expected to be useful to the various endeavours in Africa to deal with the menace of plastic bag waste and related challenges due to unsustainable patterns of consumption and production.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">824501</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2005</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">eng</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>plastic waste management</topic> <topic>waste management policy</topic> <topic>consumption</topic> <topic>Environmental studies</topic> <topic>Miljöstudier</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Earth and Environmental Sciences</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>1325695</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2006-05-30T00:00:00+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2006-08-31T00:00:00+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2005-01-01T00:00:00+01:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>5</recordPosition></record>

To demonstrate this we have concentrated our research to relate how scientists and the media describe problems of abuse among women. The method we used in our research was qualitative and we gathered information through literature, reports and articles.<br /> <br /> Our main questions are:<br /> <br /> Do the social attitude toward women and men differ and how does it affect problems of abuse among women? Do women use alcohol in a different way than men? How do social reactions and restrictions influence women? We also want to examine what position women substance abusers have in society. What similarities or differences are there between the image of women in general and women with substance abuse?<br /> <br /> The main result of the study is that we found discursive connections that show a rectification among scientists concerning substance abuse among women. We have also reached a greater understanding of the complexities of gender issues. Women substance abusers are portrayed as deviant. Some of the most frequent images that have appeared in our study are the ideal, sexual, emancipated and victimized woman.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">389022</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2006</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">swe</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>kvinnors missbruk</topic> <topic>missbruk</topic> <topic>missbrukare</topic> <topic>missbrukskultur</topic> <topic>substance abuse</topic> <topic>berusning</topic> <topic>alkohol</topic> <topic>alcohol</topic> <topic>droger</topic> <topic>kvinnor</topic> <topic>women</topic> <topic>kvinnoroll</topic> <topic>könsroll</topic> <topic>kön</topic> <topic>genus</topic> <topic>gender</topic> <topic>genusperspektiv</topic> <topic>genuskontrakt</topic> <topic>ideal</topic> <topic>moral</topic> <topic>skam</topic> <topic>social kontroll</topic> <topic>avvikande beteende</topic> <topic>deviance</topic> <topic>stämpling</topic> <topic>konvergens</topic> <topic>litteraturstudie</topic> <topic>diskursanalys</topic> <topic>Social changes, theory of social work</topic> <topic>Sociala förändringar, teorier om socialt arbete</topic> <topic>Social problems and welfare, national insurance</topic> <topic>Sociala problem, social välfärd, socialförsäkring</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Social Sciences</topic> <topic>Law and Political Science</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>1325700</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2006-05-30T00:00:00+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2006-06-16T00:00:00+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2006-01-01T00:00:00+01:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>6</recordPosition></record>

<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">712829</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2003</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">swe</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>Svenska språket, dialekter, Skåne</topic> <topic>Diftonger</topic> <topic>Diftongering</topic> <topic>Skånska</topic> <topic>Bara</topic> <topic>Broby</topic> <topic>Tågarp</topic> <topic>Dialectology</topic> <topic>Dialektforskning</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Languages and Literatures</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>1330112</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2005-05-30T00:00:00+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2005-07-01T00:00:00+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2003-01-01T00:00:00+01:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>7</recordPosition></record>

Based on the study of conversational implicatures by Grice (1975), and the distinction between ostensive and covert communication elaborated by Sperber and Wilson (1986), a typology of inferences in advertising is proposed. Furthermore, this typology was applied to a corpus of Russian and Swedish TV commercials. The main findings are a broad similarity between the commercials in Sweden and Russia with respect to the proposed inference types, showing certain general characteristics of advertising discourse. However, on closer inspection, qualitative differences between certain types of inferences were found that could be related to cultural and historical differences.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">608846</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2003</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">eng</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>TV-reklam</topic> <topic>Reklamspråk</topic> <topic>Rysk TV</topic> <topic>Svensk TV</topic> <topic>Reklamteknik</topic> <topic>Linguistics</topic> <topic>Lingvistik</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Languages and Literatures</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>1330117</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2005-05-30T00:00:00+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2005-07-01T00:00:00+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2003-01-01T00:00:00+01:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>8</recordPosition></record>

The system, called Burcas, accepts as input a text file for lyrics, from which it extracts a target phoneme sequence using basic letter-to-sound conversion, and a MIDI file?possibly holding multiple parts?, from which it extracts melodical information, i.e. note duration and frequency. After associating a syllable (or a part of a syllable) to each note, a simple model of segment durations is used to calculate the duration of each segment of the syllable. Finally, segment data are then used as control parameters (allophone, duration, frequency) for the MBROLA speech generator. The speech generator outputs sound files in standard format, given a suitable diphone database. In a concluding section, the far more sophisticated corpus-based approach to concatenative synthesis of singing is considered.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">230946</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2002</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">eng</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>Syntetisk sång utifrån svenska språket</topic> <topic>Sångsyntes</topic> <topic>Burcas</topic> <topic>Bokstav - ljud - sång</topic> <topic>Sångrösten</topic> <topic>Phonetics, phonology</topic> <topic>Fonetik, fonologi</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Languages and Literatures</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>1330121</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2005-05-30T00:00:00+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2005-07-01T00:00:00+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2002-01-01T00:00:00+01:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>9</recordPosition></record>

<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">393897</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2003</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">swe</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>Färgperception</topic> <topic>Språkinlärning</topic> <topic>Färger</topic> <topic>Färgtermer</topic> <topic>Barn 2-4 års ålder</topic> <topic>Linguistics</topic> <topic>Lingvistik</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Languages and Literatures</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>1330130</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2005-05-30T00:00:00+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2005-07-01T00:00:00+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2003-01-01T00:00:00+01:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>11</recordPosition></record>

The two main questions we aim to answer with this study are 1) what is the situation<br /> regarding trafficinduced noise and air pollution in the municipality of Burlöv 1994 and how<br /> many of the people living there are affected? 2) is the general method we chose, in<br /> combination with accessible data, suitable and sufficently precise to describe the<br /> environmental situation in the municipality? The studied air pollution agents are nitrogen<br /> dioxid, carbon monoxid, VOC´s and soot. To enable the study of trafficinduced problems as a<br /> whole we have discussed the role roads and railroads play in the environment as seen from an<br /> ecological perspective, concepts like fragmentation, corridors and barriers are discussed.<br /> Our foremost working tool has been a geographical information system, a GIS. A relational<br /> database containing three layers, demographical, road and railroad data, was constructed.<br /> Bufferzones stretching outwards from the centerline of the road/railroad were created, using<br /> simplified computation models. These layers were overlain on the demographical layer to<br /> enable calculations of the number of people affected by high air pollution concentrations/high<br /> noise levels, and where in the municipality these people were located.<br /> In our results we quantify the number of persons living within bufferzones for the studied<br /> concentrations/levels. These results should be interpreted in a general way. The figures in the<br /> results should only be used to locate problem areas and for overall physical planning.<br /> According to our results air pollution concentrations exceeding established limits are not an<br /> environmental problem to the people living in the municipality of Burlöv. Even if the<br /> established limits are lowered by half its original value only few people will be subjected to<br /> environmental hazards. The exclusion of climatological factors in the air pollution model<br /> adds to the uncertainty of our results. Our results also show that many of the inhabitants of<br /> the municipality are subjected to high noise levels from road traffic. Our result regarding<br /> noise from railroad traffic is more difficult to interpret as it shows unreasonably high numbers<br /> of affected people. With certainty we can only say what happens to the first row of houses<br /> within the bufferzone measured from the noise source since all the values in the study are free<br /> field values (noise reducing parameters excluded). To make future studies of this kind costeffective<br /> we suggest that a method is found which incorporates important noise reducing<br /> parameters in the computations.<br /> The demographical material consists of point data where, according to the national<br /> registration, people who are registered in a house have been tied to the geographical<br /> coordinates of the buildings centerpoint. This way of aggregating people in points leads to<br /> imprecise results in the overlay-procedure.<br /> The general method we chose for our survey has, in combination with accessible data, been<br /> shown to be imperfect. As for solely the choice of method we believe it to be suitable for this<br /> and other similar studies. Our problem has been the form of the demographical data and the<br /> high degree of generalization used to simplify the calculations of the environmental<br /> parameters.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">544007</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">1999</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">swe</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>geomorphology</topic> <topic>physical geography</topic> <topic>buller väg</topic> <topic>buller tåg</topic> <topic>Trivectors bullerberäkningsprogram</topic> <topic>ArcView</topic> <topic>GIS</topic> <topic>MapInfo</topic> <topic>geografisk informationsbehandling</topic> <topic>pedology</topic> <topic>cartography</topic> <topic>climatology</topic> <topic>naturgeografi</topic> <topic>geomorfologi</topic> <topic>marklära</topic> <topic>kartografi</topic> <topic>klimatologi</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Earth and Environmental Sciences</topic> </subject> <relatedItem type="host"> <titleInfo>
Lunds universitets Naturgeografiska institution - Seminarieuppsatser
</titleInfo> <part> <detail type="reportNumber"> <number>57</number> </detail> </part> </relatedItem> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>1330139</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2005-05-30T00:00:00+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2011-11-28T11:54:57+01:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">1999-01-01T00:00:00+01:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>13</recordPosition></record>

It argues that while actors must have a real capacity for action, their re-spective discourse must also house a conceptualization of that capacity in order for an actor to be expected to make decisions to employ said action. Instruments of power must also be perceived as effective in order to be employed. The essay combines theories to analyze discourse from an instrumental power perspective, in order to make a characterization of an agent&#39;s likely employment of instruments of power. The author then proceeds to test the practical application of this perspective by making a discourse analysis on statements concerning peace and security made by the Chinese delegation to the Security Council. The conclusion is that while this perspective has its limitations it is an effective way to make quick assessments on a states instrumental power discourse and thus is a useful tool in predicting a state&#39;s, or other actor&#39;s, behaviour.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">82917</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2008</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">eng</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>china</topic> <topic>discourse theory</topic> <topic>instrumental power discourse</topic> <topic>foreign policy</topic> <topic>power analysis</topic> <topic>state character</topic> <topic>Peace and conflict research, polemology</topic> <topic>Freds- och konfliktforskning</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Law and Political Science</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>1317034</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2008-05-30T00:00:00+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2015-12-14T13:34:37+01:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2008-01-01T00:00:00+01:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>15</recordPosition></record>

In the effort of optimizing its activities, companies must integrate themselves. Due to the significance packaging has within many of these activities, it is of utmost importance to integrate product and packaging development activities in order to optimize processes.<br /> <br /> It was shown in previous studies the interest that companies have on putting into practice such integration. Nevertheless, it is not clear either the possible benefits resulting from the implementation of product and packaging integration at an operational level or the appropriate manner to carry out such implementation.<br /> <br /> Through a multiple case study, several products within mechanical actual industry and which show, at some extent, product and packaging integration, are analyzed. By means of the product cases? analysis, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the advantages that companies gain by changing present activities to the suggested concept. The integration performed by the companies studied will be analyzed and connected to the development procedure model proposed by Bramkiev et al (2005).<br /> <br /> From the contributing companies? results, this study concludes that integration performance involves noticeable improvements along product life cycle processes. In particular, the distribution costs and the quality of processes in general, are the most benefited aspects by packaging integration. The results emphasize the importance of packaging in logistical activities considering help-in-distribution as maybe the most important characteristic of packaging. It is believed that taking into account earlier in the development process, packaging and other activities requirements, guarantees a more efficient product development reducing the risk of failure and consequent need of redesign.<br /> <br /> Development procedure models are declared very important tools for the companies in order to facilitate the work and organize activities. All the product development procedures for every case and company have similar structures to each other because even when things are called different the idea is the same. However, packaging development processes do not match that much to a generic model. Packaging integration has shown to be performed in a wide variety of approaches but always resulting on benefits for the companies.<br /> <br /> The results of the study show a clear support to the model proposed by Bramklev et al (2005); the higher the integration is performed, the higher the benefits are obtained.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">53645466</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2005</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">eng</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>Teknik</topic> <topic>Technological sciences</topic> <topic>packaging</topic> <topic>product and packaging integration</topic> <topic>product life-cycle</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Technology and Engineering</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>1317038</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2008-05-30T00:00:00+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2011-04-05T11:36:28+02:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2005-01-01T00:00:00+01:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>16</recordPosition></record>

The aim of this study was to compare 7 group-sessions of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy for insomnia (MBCT-I) with 3 group-sessions of CBT-I, on sleep measures and sleep related psychological processes, such as pre-sleep arousal, thought control strategies and mindfulness. Participants (N = 44; age 18-66) with long term insomnia were stratified and randomized into waiting list, MBCT-I and CBT-I. Significant improvements were seen in both groups, compared to waiting list, for instance on insomnia severity, sleep latency and restorative sleep. Small improvements on psychological processes were also found in both groups. Our findings indicate that MBCT-I is comparable to CBT-I, but question the additional value of our MBCT-I intervention.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">352823</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2008</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">swe</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>mindfulness</topic> <topic>insomnia</topic> <topic>MBCT</topic> <topic>mindfulness-based cognitive therapy</topic> <topic>cognitive-behavioural therapy</topic> <topic>CBT</topic> <topic>Psychiatry</topic> <topic>clinical psychology</topic> <topic>psychosomatics</topic> <topic>Psykiatri</topic> <topic>klinisk psykologi</topic> <topic>psykosomatik</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Medicine and Health Sciences</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>1317041</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2008-05-30T00:00:00+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2009-11-17T12:58:45+01:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2008-01-01T00:00:00+01:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>17</recordPosition></record>

Nye concerning power, and the different ways of exercising that power. The characteristics of Nye&#39;s theories are the thoughts about the second face of power, or what he describes as the soft power. The essay seeks to examine what kind of power the US has been in their work for non-proliferation and democracy promotion in the Middle East. It also seeks to find what it is that makes the US to choose to exercise the specific powers. It looks at six different cases from uses of soft, hard and smart power in the Middle East, of which three of them counts as cases of successful power exercise while the other three are considered as cases of failures in the exercise of power. The conclusion lays down that the different types of relationships the US has towards its objects is very important in the choice of power to exercise. The different nature of the relationship is also important for the outcome of the exercise, whether it is exercised towards a friend or a foe.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">261341</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2008</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">swe</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>USA</topic> <topic>hård makt</topic> <topic>mjuk makt</topic> <topic>demokratispridning</topic> <topic>antispridning</topic> <topic>mellanöstern</topic> <topic>Peace and conflict research, polemology</topic> <topic>Freds- och konfliktforskning</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Law and Political Science</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>1317051</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2008-05-30T00:00:00+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2015-12-14T13:34:37+01:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2008-01-01T00:00:00+01:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>19</recordPosition></record>

According to the theory of discursive conflict transformation, war is primarily a social phenomenon, which is legitimated by a discourse of identity defined in terms of exclusionist boundaries and structural ideas of the social relations in society. In order to develop positive peace, the discourse of violence has to be challenged and the discursive structures that enable war have to transform into a counterdiscourse of inclusion and individuality. For the purpose of making a critical peace analysis, I have, with the assistance of established conflict theories, analysed the basic ideas behind the the Annan Plan and the Belfast Agreement and thus been able to interpret to what extent they may foster positive peace. I argue, that in order to provide basic needs on a group basis, power sharing arrangement, based on ethnicity or religion, exacerbates division rather than ameliorating it. It also creates barriers to normal politics and mobilization based on alternative motives. Therefore new societal security dilemmas might be fostered and peace proposals such as the Belfast Agreement and the Annan Plan could be counterproductive in the process of developing positive peace.
<relatedItem type="constituent"> <location>
</location> <physicalDescription> <internetMediaType>application/pdf</internetMediaType> </physicalDescription> <note type="fileSize">139063</note> <accessCondition type="restrictionOnAccess">no</accessCondition> </relatedItem> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf">2008</dateIssued> </originInfo>
<languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">swe</languageTerm>
<subject> <topic>Diskursiv konflikttransformation</topic> <topic>positiv fred</topic> <topic>identitet</topic> <topic>konfliktteori</topic> <topic>maktdelning</topic> <topic>Belfastavtalet</topic> <topic>Annanplanen</topic> <topic>Peace and conflict research, polemology</topic> <topic>Freds- och konfliktforskning</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lup"> <topic>Law and Political Science</topic> </subject> <recordInfo> <recordIdentifier>1317055</recordIdentifier> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2008-05-30T00:00:00+02:00</recordCreationDate> <recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2015-12-14T13:34:38+01:00</recordChangeDate> <recordDateApproved encoding="w3cdtf">2008-01-01T00:00:00+01:00</recordDateApproved> </recordInfo> </mods></recordData><recordPosition>20</recordPosition></record>
