- Abstract
- Two experiments examined implicit and explicit attitudes for attitude-congruent material. Both implicit and explicit memory was measured with the same stimuli and the same responses in both experiments. 22 (14 female, 8 male) university students took part in experiment 1 where implicit and explicit attitude was measured for positive or negative images in combination with positive or negative words. 20 (5 female, 15 male) university students took part in experiment 2 where implicit and explicit attitude was measures for attractive or unattractive faces in combination with positive or negative words. It was argued that the implicit part of the experiment, which was based on a recognition memory test was to difficult, and that further research should focus on finding a suitable level of difficulty for further testing implicit attitudes.
