Abstract
Wet room - demands and rules This paper explains how the legislative system is built concerning wet rooms within the construction industry. Legislation is developed by all involved authorities. The state has created laws and regulations through parliament and government. These laws are used as a foundation for Boverket, who has produced BBR, which specifies the minimum requirements for the properties of buildings. HUSAMA 2008’s requirements for materials and execution are de-scriptions based on the laws made by the state. These are created to help the industry bridge the gap between the different parties for an easier use of all construction documents. HUSAMA: s execution requirements for coverings in wet rooms are referred to in the different industry rules. The industry has set up specific standards depending on which material system they use. This means that they have different requirements for different constructions and executions. Because of water damages that cost society billions of Swedish kronor each year, measures need to be taken in order for them to decrease. One measure which has been taken is that controlling authorities and certifications have been established to make the system functional and professional. These controlling authorities and certifications exist within all authorities, from national authorities, to the inspector who does the final inspection. The EU is currently working a system of labelling and other requirements and controls to make the market function smoothly within the union. The industry has worked together and formed Vattenskadecentrum with the purpose of examining and educating about water damages. This has ended up becoming an annual report of water damages from the entire country’s accommodations. The group consists of the industry organizations and the insurance companies. The insurance companies have conditions that are based on the execution requirements in the different industry standards. However, the insurance companies are controlled by the market which makes them have different requirements in their conditions. BBR states that the minimal water vapour resistivity should be one million s/m unless the moisture design points to something else. To show what this means I’ve shown a number of common walls and calculated the RH with the help of a simple model. An example of a bathroom renovation is also included in the study to give an understanding of what it would cost for the individual consumer. (Less)
