Abstract
The development of more energy-efficient buildings is today mostly a matter of using less energy than current building norms requirements. A means of responding to the ever-tighter energy requirements is to make use of the energy-storing ability. In order to fully utilize a building's energy-storing ability, a heavy frame composed of brick, concrete, lightweight concrete or other stone materials must be selected, as they have better ability to store and deliver surplus-heat than a lightweight frame.
The thesis aims to examine how energy storage works and what factors that provide the most advantageous indoor temperature when heat supply ceases during ten hours. From a social perspective, the profit with suspensions of heat is that energy... (More)

The thesis aims to examine how energy storage works and what factors that provide the most advantageous indoor temperature when heat supply ceases during ten hours. From a social perspective, the profit with suspensions of heat is that energy companies ' power peaks will be lower. In addition, a delayed power consumption could probably use the industry's excess heat. From the user perspective the profit is reduced heating and a possible opportunity to buy cheaper energy.
The results of the simulations show that the most effective measure for reducing the temperature difference is to reduce the surface resistance, which is also the most difficult. Other important measures are to allow a roof, foundation and inner as well as outer walls to be made of concrete. Furthermore, the building should be as airtight as possible and surfaces should be smooth and well-exposed. With these measures, a comfortable indoor temperature can be maintained during ten hours without active heating system. Keywords: thermal inertia, energy storage, energy use, concrete, surface resistance, heavy frame, lightweight concrete frames (Less)
Abstract (Swedish)
(More)
(Less)
