Abstract
The aim of this project was to investigate how the properties of high expansion foam is affected when filling large enclosures using portable foam generators. The properties are investigated both by collecting the Swedish rescue services experiences on the matter through a survey and by five full scale tests. The main conclusions of the project is the impact which the amount of openings have on the filling. An opening of eight square meters instead of two makes the filling much faster, because a smaller amount of foam is degraded and the foam is less affected by obstacles. Another outcome is that an interruption during a filling will fail the whole procedure due to the foam stiffens and no more foam can be pushed into the building. It is... (More)

It is also found that lack of knowledge and practise with high expansion foam is the main reason for not using it. Although it has positive effects on for example preservation of inventories. (Less)
