This is an interview-based study that aims to test the validity of the Agenda Setting Theory. The study was conducted by interviewing two web editors each from four Swedish daily newspapers’ digital editions. The interview questions included how they prioritized material on their sites, how
they valued news, which analytical tools they used and how important they are. While most, but not all, editors agreed that clicks are important for their respective newspapers’ activity, all agreed that analytical tools were crucial in today’s digital media landscape. As such, it could be argued that the Agenda Setting Theory is no longer fully valid. (Less)
