- Title: Does the teacher play any role? Instrumental music teacher's stories about their music teaching.
This paper focuses on how instrumental music teachers describe their own significance for- and relationship to the pupils and if the teacher-pupil relationship has any significance for the pupil's success in music learning. How important are the teachers? What kind of teaching behaviours do the teachers emphasize in their telling? The theoretical background is psychology and educational theory. In order to underpin the relationship the teacher should create a feeling of safety for the pupil, positive attitudes and broadened human relation to the pupil. But it is important to remember that the pupil-teacher relationship should be suited for the pupil's needs and wishes. There is a risk that the pupil will lack motivation if he/she does not enjoy the teaching and it will then influence the pupil's music learning. Teachers' own experiences of being pupils seem to influence their approach and teaching.
Denna uppsats fokuserar på hur instrumentallärare beskriver sin betydelse för- och relation till eleverna och om relationen mellan lärare och elev någon betydelse för elevers resultat i det musikaliska lärandet? Hur viktig är läraren? Vilken sorts beteende i sin undervisning berättar lärarna om? Den teoretiska bakgrunden är psykologi- och pedagogisk litteratur och min metod i undersökningen är kvalitativ med fokusering på intervjuer. Resultaten visar att relationen mellan lärare och elev är mycket viktig och verkar ha särskild effekt på elevernas musikundervisning. För att bekräfta relationen bör läraren få eleven att känna sig trygg, ha en positiv attityd och vidga kontakten till eleven. Men det är viktigt att komma ihåg att hur relationen ska se ut bör anpassas efter elevens behov och önskningar eftersom det annars finns risk att hon eller han inte trivs. Ifall eleven inte trivs finns det risk för att det påverkar hans/hennes motivation negativt som i sin tur påverkar det musikaliska utvecklandet. Lärarnas egna erfarenheter av att vara elev tycks ha påverkat deras synsätt och metod att undervisa. (Less)
