Abstract
Abstract

The aim of this paper is to find out what kind of functions the dog may have had on the island, Öland, Sweden. I started with three possible functions: A practical function, a religious/ritual function and other functions.

The conclusions of this paper are twofold. The first conclusion is that more research is needed if one wants to know what kind of functions the dog have had in the Iron Age on Öland, and the second is that I have increased the possibilities of functions the dogs may have fulfilled in many tasks in ancient times.
