It also examines how interest groups work with advertising and public relations in a changed climate of mass media. The main method of gathering material has been done thru interviews of representatives of different interest groups.

The results of the study paint a picture where the interviewed organizations experience a vast competition in communication and information. They use advertising and PR in their activities to influence decision makers, but PR is considered more effective and cheaper. Although the interest groups feel that there are more players in the arena of lobbying and public opinion they do not necessarily view as more competition, collaboration is a common feature for the organizations. The impact of internet has also reached the interest groups. It provides new possibilities for information and communication, both internally and externally. (Less)
