Den dolda genusordningen på museer. En studie kring museers arbete utifrån genusperspektiv.

- Abstract

Abstract
The tasks of museums are to document, research and collect the remains of human kind and nature in order to enrich the cultural heritage and contribute new knowledge. The question is what kind of knowledge is being communicated and what is selected to be a part of the cultural heritage. The purpose of this paper is to lift the discussion regarding if the cultural heritage and communication of knowledge is gender neutral and how the hidden gender construction is mirrored in the exhibits, as well as studying how a gender perspective is used and integrated at the National Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm and Malmö Museums. My empirical foundation consists of interviews with a total of eight representatives from both museums. My theoretical foundation consists of theories surrounding culture, cultural heritage, and gender. That which emerges in the study is that there is a complex of problems surrounding the cultural heritage where the objects present a biased view of the historical description, as well as that questions surrounding gender are largely not taken into account at the museums and have trouble being integrated in the activity.
