Abstract
This essay is an in-depth, qualitative study concerned with questions about female ?class-travellers?. A class-traveller is a person who is born and raised in a particular social class but changes his/her social belonging through studies, marriage etc. In this study I have interviewed three female class-travellers, all of which have made their ?journey? through studies at the University of Lund.

The study is an attempt to enrich the research-field of class-travelling by applying a feminist perspective, and by making women's voices about class-travelling heard. In the essay I present the class-traveller's stories about their class origin, identity, their university experiences and their relation to their origin. The intent is to create a... (More)
This essay is an in-depth, qualitative study concerned with questions about female ?class-travellers?.

The intent is to create a possible interpretation of the subjective meaning(s) of being a class-traveller.

The analysis of the empirical material is made in dialogue with feminist theories and culture-sociological theories, as well as with previous analyses made within the research-field of class-travelling.

This study presents no simple picture of the class-traveller; instead I have tried to present and interpret some of the multiplicity of experiences that I have come to see as important in an understanding of the class-traveller. (Less)
