Abstract
The aim of this study was to examine a computersystem with many users from a usability perspective. The computersystem that was examined was AIS-95, which are being used of the Swedish Employment Service. A former study had been conducted with the same perspective as this study, concerning the Swedish Employment Service´s former computersystem, and it was found interesting to also compare this study with the former study. Interviews were being held with eight employment officers at a local employment office. Interviews were being held with eight employment officers at a local employment office. The interviews were held while the employment officers were using the computersystem in order to also being able to watch the actual use of the computersystem. Two more interviews were conducted, one with a developer of the computersystem and one with an educator of the computersystem. Additional information were acquired via e-mail from two more persons with knowledge about the computersystem. The results indicated that AIS-95 was continuous updated and experienced as continuous updated to the better. The maintainance of the computersystem seemed to work smoothly and well despite the size of the computersystem. Some usabilityproblems were found in some functions, mainly where the tasks were automatized. Usability related problems were also found when the workload increased. In comparison with the former study of the Swedish Employment Service´s computersystem it showed that some problem remained. These problem were, according to this study, mainly due to contextual problems and together with the usability problems related to the workload this indicates how important the context is for the computersystems fit in the organization.
