Abstract
The purpose of this qualitative study was to investigate the origin of peoples view on ideal leadership. This was at first to be conducted by interviewing eight teachers at an elementary school who where split into four groups divided by gender and age. The intention of the separation was to attain differences of opinions to bring clarity to our main question. The aim with the interviews was to obtain the teachers´ unbiased reflections upon ideal leadership, which is why the analysis of the attained material was carried out inductively on the basis of grounded theory. After having analysed six interviews we discovered homogeneity manifested in the teachers´ answers. We found this to be interesting, what was the reason for the teacher’s... (More)
The purpose of this qualitative study was to investigate the origin of peoples view on ideal leadership. We found this to be interesting, what was the reason for the teacher’s similar opinions on ideal leadership? Could it be that the teachers have these opinions just because they are teachers? With the intention to investigate whether teachers have different opinions on ideal leadership than people who are not teachers or not, we interviewed two alternative individuals who did not have teaching as a profession. The comparison between these groups manifested differences even though there also were similarities. This study shows that leadership should be looked upon as a dynamic expression including context, culture etc. It is hard to make a definition of the expression since it is growing and changing with time. Therefore we found it hard to draw any further conclusions about the origin of peoples view on ideal leadership. (Less)
