- Abstract
- The purpose of this assignment was to illustrate how some young boys, who attend upper secondary school on the specific ice hockey and dancing branches, look upon manliness, how they consider themselves and the environment in which they are active. I have used a qualitative method, I have interviewed four boys who play ice hockey and three who dance. All of these were between fifteen and eighteen years of age. Most of the ice hockey players meant that men and women have different qualities while the dancers did not want to generalize and attribute people... (More)

I have used a qualitative method, I have interviewed four boys who play ice hockey and three who dance. All of these were between fifteen and eighteen years of age. Most of the ice hockey players meant that men and women have different qualities while the dancers did not want to generalize and attribute people specific qualities because of their gender. A couple of the boys who play ice hockey meant that it is easier to talk about private matters with friends who do not play ice hockey. Two of the dancers considered the unity to be good among the dancers while another one meant that there is no unity because of the fierce competition. All of them meant that training makes them active and that it is a great feeling to reach your goals. (Less)
