Abstract
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, OCD, is a disease which 2-3 % of the Swedish population suffers from. The purpose of this essay was to examine how the disease affects the children who grow up in families where somebody has got OCD. Our first question was: In which way did relative’s disease affect the child? The second question was: How did the relative’s disease affect the child’s relations to the other family members and friends? The third question was: In which way did the child experience the sick relative before respectively after an eventual treatment? The last question was: In which comprehension do the relatives assume that they are in need of help during their adolescence because of their sick closely related? As empirical material... (More)

The last question was: In which comprehension do the relatives assume that they are in need of help during their adolescence because of their sick closely related? As empirical material we used qualitative interviews, done with persons who had grown up in a family where somebody had got the disease OCD. We also interviewed a person who represented the association Ananke. Our conclusion of this examination was that a child, who grows up during these circumstances, does get affected in most cases. Therefore it’s necessary to develop the help, not only for the people who suffers from the disease themselves, but also for their relatives. Especially if these relatives are children. (Less)
