Abstract
The aim of this study is to decribe social care in homes for elderly mentally frail people and by means of social-philosophical theories identify and analyse these in relation to practical working in social care. The quality study has been possible by the use of interviews with four care-workers and by participant observation. Another quality aspect is the professional way to behave which include respect and caring, to create cinfidence and trust and to give individual support. The care-workers in this study have described good examples of professional ways to behave. In the interviews the care-workers describe the stress and frustration in their work due to the introduction of independant economic result-units and that eldely people are getting more and more demanding. Undet these circumstances I can see a risk that the qualitity in social care will decrease. Staff in homes for elderly mentally frail people need to get support and instruction in their care work. Poteniality such as education in those issues is a matter of course as well as the obvious fact that new working methods have to be created. Keywords: Social care, home for elderly mentally frail people, care-receivers, quality aspects (Less)
