Abstract
The purpose of this composition was to study children as participants in their own reality and their social life during recess in school. Our ambitions were, from children's point of view, and a perspective of gender, to find out the existence and expressions of groups, leaders and rules. Our result showed that children make their own choices, when it comes to how, where and with whom they want to play. Adult have no saying. The children have shown us that they play together, and that they also play in groups separated by gender. Boys play many at a time and their relations are created during activities. Girls play more often in pairs, and the activity is dependent upon which relationships they have to each other. Children experience a good leader synonym with a good friend. It's important to be kind, helpful and democratic. Rules are important for both boys and girls when they're playing. (Less)
