- Abstract
- The purpose of this essay was to describe how it is possible for a treatment centre to create favourable conditions for a successful moving out, and what support is required after moving out to maintain a positive way of life. The investigation consisted of six interviews with staff and clients, at two treatment centres that work with people with drug related problems. The interviews pointed to the importance of receiving support from the treatment centre to enable personal development and improvements in self-confidence, concerning both the carrying out of practical matters and the ability to make contact with others. The interview subjects were satisfied with the support offered by the treatment centre and gave a more detailed picture of the work concerning preparations for moving out than of the work concerning clients who have already moved out. They also emphasised the importance of feeling support from their surroundings, of having a meaningful occupation and of feeling welcome to call and to visit the treatment centre after moving out. The clients felt support from their surroundings at the time of their moving out, and even afterwards, and still have good contact with the treatment centre. (Less)
