Abstract
The purpose of this paper was to, from a user perspective examine and describe how the cares of people with learning disabilities in two care residences fulfil stated quality objectives. Another purpose was also to examine if the quality tool, Quest, was useful when evaluating Swedish conditions. The result shows the conditions were good for performing high quality care, but there are certain needs for education within the organization. The area involvement and influence reached generally low quality scores. The results coincide to a great degree with other studies in the same area. A general observation was that the quality of the care was rated especially high when it comes to "hard" facts that are easier to make concrete or develop... (More)
The purpose of this paper was to, from a user perspective examine and describe how the cares of people with learning disabilities in two care residences fulfil stated quality objectives. A general observation was that the quality of the care was rated especially high when it comes to "hard" facts that are easier to make concrete or develop routines for, e.g. the housing, organization, basic safety and daily routines. When it comes to "soft" values, there were more often shortage in the quality. An exception from this is in the area respect and integrity, that was rated high, which probably is explained by the fact that the personnel have a very positive attitude and a great commitment to the people with learning disabilities. How the quality obstacles were fulfilled at the two care residences in the survey, mainly coincide with the results above. The needs for improvements were identified in some important areas; e.g. involvement and influence for the people with learning disabilities. The survey also shows that Quest is useful for Swedish conditions, it covers relevant areas and can be used to evaluate the quality of the care carried out at care residents for people with learning disabilities. Key words: Kvalitet, kvalitetssystem, brukarperspektiv, utvecklingsstörda, omsorg, gruppboende. (Less)
