This essay is a study about the sexuality of young women, their riskbehavior in sexual relations and the attitudes about the sexuality of young women among the professionals. We heard from a documentary that young heterosexual women lie within the biggest riskgroup for getting infected by the HIV virus. Our main purpose with this study was to examine whether women have changed their sexual lifestyles into riskbehavior, or if this statement is another way of oppressing womens sexuality. Our main questions were: What influence the sexuality of young women? What is considered to be a sexual riskbehavior? Do young heterosexual women have a sexual riskbehavior? What attitudes do the young women and the professionals have about the sexuality of young women? 65 young women at a gymnasium in Helsingborg answered the questions of our inquiry. We also interviewed two social workers, one youth counsellor and a nurse midwife. The results of this study show that sexual riskbehavior is connected to social and economic background, that young women are influenced by the norms of society which are shown by the law, language and media, and that the professionals also live by these norms.
