I have an explorative effort and use a qualitative method with half-structured interviews and participating observations. The findings are that there is social work done by socialworkers and others, their assignements have a big variation and include both traditionall social work and some deviating tasks. The respondents see mainly Non Governmental Organisations and a long tradition of social work as possibilities and as obstacles bad finances and the lack of knowledge and understanding for social work. There are volonteerwork done by expatriots but also by polish people. They entertain and keep children busy in diffrent ways and help sick people with households. They have no big impact on socialworkers situation but in some case they reprecent a resorce that can simplify the social work. (Less)
