How is the course of action of the social worker in her profession, in order to accomplish a meeting with the child, and to get knowledge about the situation from the perspective of the child? Method: Qualitative interviews and qualitative studies of the documentation. Conclusion: Important patterns are identified such as how the social worker establishes contact with the child and on what level she communicates with the child. We have seen that she uses different methods to reach the child. She also has to consider the age of the child and how mature the child is. Another important issue which she has to reflect on is if the child must be protected by the law. Key Words: Relationship building and communication; triangulation of communication; attachment; methods and how to communicate by playing with the child; age and maturity; law and UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
