All employers are obligated by law to work systematically with the physical, psychological and social work environment. This means that the employer must work running and preventively with any problems that might cause the employees health¬problems or result in casualties. The model in question is designed and drawn up by Pierre Schou and he calls it the Strategic model. Pierre Schou is a Psycologist, have a Master of Business Administration and have a Ph.D. in Business Administration at Stockholm School of Economics. The Strategic model is used to aid companies to achieve change and development in a direction towards their ideal state. The employee polls are adapted specifically to the company’s purpose with an origin in its strategic documents such as goal, vision and policies. The work environment includes the psychological and sociological aspects of the work environment as well as the physical and the employer is obligated to work with all the aspects. This paper however only addresses the psychological and sociological aspects, and in particular mentally abusive behaviour. Conflicts at a workplace are normal and in a healthy work environment most conflicts are constructive and lead to development. In less healthy work environments there is always a risk that the conflicts cross the line and becomes mentally abusive. Mental abuse is a collected concept of all sorts of non physical abuse witch aims to exclude a co-worker from the fellowship of the work group. Sorts of mental abuse are for example: to insult, freeze out, discriminate, slander or defame a person, and more. (Less)
