Abstract
For Those About to Rock... – A study of views of the ensemble repertoire in the aesthetic programme in Swedish high schools In my paper I will present the result of an inquiry made in the aesthetic program in Swedish high schools. The survey covers nine different groups in three different schools in Skåne. As background to my study I have used experiences I have had during my practical workplace training as a student at the Malmö Academy of Music. I have also used literature that discusses the development of genres in high school and the students' musical interests. For Those About to Rock... – A study of views of the ensemble repertoire in the aesthetic programme in Swedish high schools In my paper I will present the result of an inquiry made in the aesthetic program in Swedish high schools. The survey covers nine different groups in three different schools in Skåne. As background to my study I have used experiences I have had during my practical workplace training as a student at the Malmö Academy of Music. I have also used literature that discusses the development of genres in high school and the students' musical interests. The purpose of the inquiry is to find out what students think of the diversity of genre in the musical repertoire in their ensemble studies. I have chosen to use qualitative interviews. Instead of interviewing the students one by one, I have interviewed the whole group at the same time. It is common for all groups that they play or have played musical genres in pop and rock. This is common in the ensemble repertoire overall. Most groups also have considerable influence over the repertoire and are satisfied with their repertoire. In my discussion, I focus on the similarities between these groups and then I analyze the results. I conclude by giving suggestions for further research based on the ideas I got during the time of my survey, factors which may be interesting to take into account or focus on in continued research on this topic. I min uppsats redovisar jag resultatet från en undersökning gjord på gymnasieskolans estetiska program. Undersökningen omfattar nio olika ensembler på tre olika skolor i Skåne. Som bakgrund till min undersökning har jag använt mig av egna erfarenheter från min VFU (Verksamhetsförlagd utbildning) under min tid som student på musikhögskolan i Malmö. For Those About to Rock... - En undersökning om uppfattningar av ensemblerepertoaren på det estetiska programmet. Jag har även använt mig av litteratur om genreutvecklingen i skolan och hur elevernas intresse för olika sorters musik ser ut. Syftet med undersökningen är att komma fram till hur elever på det estetiska programmet uppfattar genrebredden i repertoaren i ämnet ensemble. Som metod för undersökningen har jag använt mig av kvalitativa intervjuer där jag har intervjuat ensemblegrupper på de olika skolorna. Jag har valt att intervjua grupperna i sin helhet istället för att intervjua gruppdeltagarna var för sig. Det gemensamma för alla grupper var att de spelar eller har spelat musik från genrerna pop och rock och att de är vanligt förekommande i ensemblerepertoaren överlag. De flesta grupperna har också stort inflytande över repertoaren och är nöjda med sin repertoar. I diskussionen tar jag upp likheterna grupperna emellan för att sedan analysera resultatet. Jag avslutar med att ge förslag på fortsatt forskning utifrån uppslag jag har fått under tiden för min undersökning, faktorer som kan vara intressanta att ta hänsyn till eller utgå ifrån i en fortsatt forskning i ämnet.
