this new country. This study is about human identity and the ability to adjust to a new music, culture and language. This study is based on interviews in which the persons I have interviewed have shared their musical experiences and thoughts about the panpipe and how this instrument has had an influence on the people I have interviewed. To play an instrument that is unfamiliar to others can be of great meaning to the musician and to those hearing the instrument for the first time. People can feel complicity to the new and... Föreställ dig att komma från ditt eget land till ett annat. Ibland kan det vara av politiska skäl och ibland av andra. Man kan känna sig välkommen och samtidigt känna att man inte passar in i det nya landet. Denna studie handlar om identitet och förmågan att anpassa sig till en ny musik, kultur och ett nytt språk. Studien bygger på intervjuer i vilka
intervjupersonernas musikaliska upplevelser och tankar kring panflöjten diskuteras, och hur denna påverkat informanterna. Utifrån mina intervjuer har jag kommit fram till att: att spela ett instrument som är främmande för andra människor kan ha en stor betydelse för både musikern och den som
hör instrumentet för första gången. Människor som tar del av musiken kan känna en delaktighet i det nya och annorlunda. Detta är ett personligt arbete som lärt mig mycket om min far och gett mig djupare förståelse för hans musikaliska bakgrund. (Less)
