Data was collected from ten academic books which touched all the subjects; globalization, cosmopolitan democracy, nation-state and democracy. The result is based upon the discussion of globalization and its effects on democracy. Studies have shown that national decision-making is being affected by international institutions such as the United Nations, European Union and The World bank, among others, as they are gaining more formal power over states. Some writers consider that to be a problem for contemporary democracy and instead are advocating for democracy beyond national borders – a cosmopolitan democracy. (Less)
