Abstract
The aim of this study is to understand men who have been raped by other men, their experience of the rape and how they act. I have conducted 18 qualitative interviews with these men. During the process of analyzing the material I have used Randall Collins’ concepts of interaction ritual chains and forward panic together with Thomas J. Scheff’s concepts of
emotional energy and shame. The rape made the interaction ritual chains break and the men had no words for these experiences. Through previous interaction ritual chains they have been shaped by the social construction of masculinities, sexualities and homosexuality. None of
