Abstract
Östra Tommarp is the name of a small village situated outside Simrishamn in eastern Skåne. Bioagro-life is an ongoing project sponsored by the EU. The main ambition is to eliminate carbon dioxide emissions from the process of heatproduction. The project will produce a more environmental friendly alternative to present use of burners with oil as fuel. The heating of the facilities within the village will be delivered through a system similar to a central heating system, though the heat will be produced locally. The project will provide an alternative fuel to oil, made from renewable low-quality agricultural products, that does not contribute to the global warming process. Skånefrö AB, who has a leading roll in the project, is the owner of... (More)

Skånefrö AB, who has a leading roll in the project, is the owner of the heat producing facility and also the producer of the pellets. To implement this project a study is required to identify potential network members and their needs. Then comparison will be made between the need of energy and the present amount of energy that Skånefrö AB is able to produce. Eastern Tommarp is a small urban area with approximately 279 inhabitants. It is a typical church community of about 157 households, a kindergarten and a few companies. Most houses are from 1900-1970s, where the majority has oil, electricity or pellets as a heating source. The conditions for central heating are ideal due to the lack of height differences on the ground level and the pellets are produced locally witch means no need of transportation of fuel. In the current situation about 50 households, approximately 30 percent interest in heating interaction which is significantly less than expected. The rural association who initiated the idea of central heating hoped for at least 70 percent of interest to actually invest in the project. This is also our basis in this study. This study investigates how many households could obtain their energy from Skånefrö AB including Tummeliten the kindergarten, Stiby church, Danielsson’s and JHL, who are the main consumers of heating. Heat losses calculated on the basis of a traditional district heating system with two single pipes proved to be very low. A high density of households contributes to a loss of 0,66 per cent a year. Unfortunately this project is not likely to be implemented because the rural association received no aid from the government and because of a low interest rate among the village’s inhabitants. (Less)
