The aim was to create interiors that are connected to the local culture so that it adds a value
to the whole experience of staying at Basecamp. They wanted the interiors to have their
own aesthetical language that are inspired and collected from the local traditions and way
of life.
My focus has been on creating interior items and furniture with the inspiration and
aesthetic appearance rooted within the culture. The project have been done almost entirely
on spot in Kenya, Nairobi and Masai Mara, where building and prototype making has been
performed by me and local craftsmen/women. The result of this master project is for the
Pyrenees at a research and sketch level and for Masai Mara at realisation level with full scale
prototypes of my designs in one of the new tents. (Less)
