Solar Cells on Mobile Phone

- Abstract
- Realization of a Master Thesis is one of the mandatory parts of the Master of Science.
The thesis was performed at the GUR/MBM mechanical development department at
Sony Ericsson Mobile Communication in Lund, with supervision of the Division of
Machine Design at the Department of Design Sciences, Lund University of
Technology.
The current consumption of mobile phones in standby mode has decreased a lot
during the last years. Meanwhile the efficiencies of solar cells have increased, due to

The current consumption of mobile phones in standby mode has decreased a lot
during the last years. Meanwhile the efficiencies of solar cells have increased, due to
much research in environmentally acceptable power sources. As the size and weight
of phones are limiting the battery energy, the thought of reaching “infinite standby”
for mobile phones by using solar cells was born. Lately a more cost and time efficient
production technology for high efficiency solar cells have been developed which
makes it more attractive for mass production at reasonable cost levels. (Less)
