His operational approaches regarding definition and treatment of shame are tested against different socio-cultural contexts. On the basis of this reading a semi-structured interview with Finn Skårderud is undertaken. The focus of this interview is on defining, treating and representing cases of shame-related problems. It is concluded that, although, Skårderud's descriptions of shame-tormented clients hold a very high degree of authenticity more thorough considerations of methodological nature are needed to enhance the authority of his argumentation.
