- Abstract
- The purpose of this study has been to describe and analyze the views of the staff working at substitute receptions and at a social services abuse unity regarding sustenance treatment and at the same time distinguish different factors of influence. My introductory line of question has been to find out the thoughts and ideas of the staff regarding sustenance treatments. Furthermore I wanted to find out how the staff looks upon the sustenance treatment as a possibility for abusers of opiate to once more adjust to the society. - The purpose of this study has been to describe and analyze the views of the staff working at substitute receptions and at a social services abuse unity regarding sustenance treatment and at the same time distinguish different factors of influence. My introductory line of question has been to find out the thoughts and ideas of the staff regarding sustenance treatments. Furthermore I wanted to find out how the staff looks upon the sustenance treatment as a possibility for abusers of opiate to once more adjust to the society. My third line of question touched upon the staff's view of the abuse of opiate as a biological/medical explanation. Finally I wanted to find out certain factors of influence that the staff experience in their work with sustenance treatments. The study covers the theoretical and at the same time the empirical materials that have been collected based on a qualitative method. I have used semi-structural lines of questions while interviewing three females and one male. When I analyzed the material I used two different theories of which the first is the metabolic and the latter is the system of social rehabilitation. The conclusion of my study showed that the people interviewed support this form of treatment and at the same time there is an opinion that the treatment will increase in the future. In addition the interviewees advocated assistance and social support in combination with the medical treatment. The result of the study also showed that the sustenance treatment had possibilities as well as limits concerning the abusers adjustment into society. Another conclusion was that the biological model of explanation is considered reliable, but the interviewees were also of the opinion that the body at the same time has the possibility of self-healing without the added ingredient of opiates. Finally it was concluded that a row of impact factors had importance in the work with sustenance treatment as the paradigm prohibition, the mass mediums and different positions. (Less)
