Abstract
Social worker is a profession with an increased risk of being exposed to threat and violence on the workplace. In this study we investigated the occurrence of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in a sample of 60 social workers. We also investigated the types and frequency of threats exposed by this group and whether social workers with varying levels of PTSD symptoms reported significantly higher levels of exposure to traumatic situations and significantly higher levels of awareness of attention towards threat.
