- Abstract
- The primary aim of this essay is to present an ontological declaration of the international system. The secondary aim is to explain the main structures and processes within and beyond the system. To accomplish the first aim I have placed special attention on philosophical and ontological matters that are not normally addressed in political science. The main instrument in analyzing the structure of philosophy of science has been the scientific realism approach, which has given me the opportunity to delve deeper into the ontology of international life. The main analytical tool I have used to cope with the hazardous field ontology has been deductive and formal logic. To accomplish the second aim, a systemic approach has been developed. The influences comes directly from the renowned creator of the General system Theory, Ludwig von Bertananffy and the two most influential students of international relations, Kenneth Waltz and Alexander Wendt. The reunification of these three giants has given me the possibility to adapt a systemic approach on the international system, which has its special needs and requires a different logic than other entities in the social world. One of the solutions has been to adopt a second layer of ontology exterior to the international system, which can explain irregularities and adaptation of the central components. (Less)
