- Abstract
- The purpose of this essay is to examine whether Sweden acts under the realist theory or the
liberal theory in the fight against terrorism by using the deportation of the Egyptians as a case.
By analyzing conventions and Sweden’s foreign policy in relation of the deportation, the
answers will reveal if human rights have been given a secondary role in Sweden’s actions
against terrorism. The theories that will be in focus in this essay are as mentioned above
realism and liberalism. Focus will be taken in Francis Fukuyama’s principles of new
liberalism and the beginning of modern realism with Hans Morgenthau’s principles.The
conclusion of this essay is that Sweden has despite its liberal view of how foreign policy
